Emoke Barath, soprano

Hungarian Emoke Barath was born in 1985. She started her musical studies when she was 6 years old playing the piano, cello and harp and singing in choirs.
A special award in 2003 and first prizes at National Singing Competitions followed in 2005/6. She then studied with Julia Paszthy at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
Prize winner at the 44th Antonin Dvorak International Singing Competition in 2009 she performed roles in operas by Handel, Vivaldi and Purcell in 2010.
A participant in several masterclasses in Hungary, Austria, the USA and Switzerland with Barbara Bonney, Kiri Te Kanawa and Ricard Bordas helped her to develop. Invited to perform as soloist at the Palace of Arts- Budapest, Sopron Early Music days, iskolc Opera Festival, Tschaikovsky Concert Hall, Pushkin Museum, Moscow and the Verbier Festival.
The Grand Prix at the 2011 Verbier Festival Academy will lead to a further performance there in 2012. Emoke also won the International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera, Innsbruck in August 2011.
